ABOUT

What is the Open Transit Data Toolkit?

The Open Transit Data Toolkit website is a series of lessons to help people utilize open transit data. Each lesson walks through the process of finding, wrangling, visualization, and analyzing transit data. Transit authorities are releasing massive amounts of transit data. However, this data must be transformed into actionable insights to be useful. This website attempts to help that process. The site is a project of the The Nature of Cities, and was funded by the TransitCenter.

What do we hope to accomplish?
The website’s objective is to help people learn some basic skills for analyzing and visualizing transit data.
Who is this site for?
The Open Transit Data Toolkit is for anyone with an interest in using open transit data. People new to programming and data science will learn some basic strategies for preparing and visualizing transit data. People new to transit system analysis will learn where to find transit data and methods for measuring and analyzing transit systems.
